PMC -
Precious Metal Clay Workshop
Instructor: Merrilee Hansen
Certified PMC Instructor
Saturday, September 20th
12:00-4:00
Hot Shops Art Center
1301 Nicholas St, Omaha
$115 per student.
Pre-registration and
deposit required.
In order to register, please contact
mlgkelli@cox.net
In
the 4+ hours of class, you will learn everything
you need to know
to confidently handle Precious Metal Clay. The
first project will be a
pair of earrings which will teach the basics of
handling the clay:
shrinkage, required thickness,
texturing, attaching findings, kiln firing, and
finishing. The
earrings will be completed in time to take home.
The second project is
a pendant which will teach how to handle a more
dimensional piece, gem
setting, and self- bail {what a chain goes
through}. I do not dictate
what the third piece will be as many have come
with an idea; but, I
demonstrate and bring equipment for everyone for
making a three
dimensional piece, a bead. All projects are
preceded with a
demonstration. I bring examples of my own work,
PMC books and
magazines, and touch upon more advanced
techniques such as applying
gold, using with other metals, and using other
types of PMC and
equipment. The last two projects will be fired
and finished by me and
returned by mail as the gem will fracture if not
cooled slowly. All
your questions will be answered and a positive
atmosphere is promised.
Thank you for considering the class.
