The Midwest Lampworkers Guild All Member Show will be held at the Hot Shops Art Center in October. Plan on attending this event to see the new works of over 15 jewelry artisans in multiple medias including lampwork beads, seed beads, silversmithing, precious metal clay, enameling and more!

Sara Sally LaGrand is coming to Omaha . . . again!

Back by popular demand, Sara Sally LaGrand is returning to the Crystal Forge Studio at the Hot Shops Art Center to offer a wonderful 2-day class.

April 17th and April 18th

This class will focus on the creation of one or more glass corsages in a two day period. The first day will be the lampworking portion followed by wireworking and assemblage. The students will learn 5 sculptural shapes: the pod, the crater, the disc, the berry, and the wing.

Students will be required to bring their own tools and glass (104 only) and should have several years of lampworking experience, sorry - no beginners.

The students will be asked to email the names of the glass colors they intend to bring, and SaraSally will bring a color or two for them to spice it up and make them think beyond their own color choices. Experimentation with color combinations will be encouraged.

The students will be shown how to create glass sculptures using creative methods with the final design in mind. They will be making glass corsages of their OWN creation; each piece they create will be unique to them.

The second day, SaraSally will demonstrate methods to make the necklace, pins and bracelets. All students learn all techniques. SaraSally will have a wire packet for sale to complete projects.

Tools needed:
104 glass, glasses/eye protection, graphite marver, mandrels, mashers, metal soup can, personal lampworking tools, raking tools, striker/matches, tweezer mashers, tweezers, writing materials.

National and local exhibitors are coming to Omaha to sell beads, cabachons, charms, books, findings, tools, supplies and other bead/jewelry-related items, some difficult or impossible to find locally.

This is the place to BE-ad!

Co-sponsored by the Nebraska Bead Society, Omaha Beady Bunch and the Midwest Lampworkers' Guild.

Admission is $3 - pick up a $1 off coupon at local bead shops.

The Nebraska Bead Society's website provides a list of some of the confirmed "must see" vendors.

Lunch is available for purchase from the District 66 Catering.

Get out of the house and come torch!!!!!!!

Why: Because we have cabin fever and feel the need to play with fire.

Cost: $10.00 for your gas fee plus a side dish to share for lunch. (main course is sloppy joes)

* Mini cc's available for rent through Crystal Forge studio - please contact Ed Fennel for torch reservations.

What else to bring: torch, glass, tools, mandrels, bead release . . . a kiln will be available to place your beads in, but if you want to take home your beads on Saturday bring your own fiber blanket.

This fun , social event is sponsored by the Midwest Lampworkers Guild and the Crystal Forge Studio. The purpose of the event is to get together and share ideas and techniques for making glass beads.
