Three one-day workshops to chose from!

Sept 9, 2016, 9:30am-6pm
Creative Sculptural Beadmaking:  Sillystuff Mini Class (1 day)

Intermediate level. Sculptural techniques and heat control—you’ll get it all! You’ll learn to visualize and design sculptural beads from the inside out, diagram your designs, and create designs by working from largest to smallest detail. We’ll discuss how to turn wonky beads into fabulous fish, where to go for inspiration and design ideas, and how to find your own creative voice. You’ll practice new techniques while making fish, lizards, assorted critter heads and bodies—fun learning guaranteed! And we’ll stay a bit late to end the day with a Bead Toss. Don’t want to miss “that.”

Cost: $195 includes glass and lunch. $100 deposit required to register for class.

Goblins, Faces and Cabochons (1 day class)

Intermediate level. Here’s your chance to play with Strange and Interesting Faces, both as beads and cabochons! We’ll cover a lot—eyes, noses, mouths both closed and screaming, kissy lips, big floppy ears, hair, horns, and even hats, if you want ‘em. You’ll learn to make human-ish and creature faces with expression and do creepy Joker Smiles. We’ll make simple eye cane, cover classic Italian style faces, goblin and creature heads with expression, and learn several eye techniques. In the afternoon we’ll apply all we’ve learned to cabochons, and learn to work larger than the footprint of the cab mandrel.

Cost: $195 includes glass and lunch. $100 deposit required to register for class.

The Dragon Class (1 day class)

Intermediate level. Everybody needs a big multi-part dragon, and we’ll learn two types? We’ll make simple murrini eyes, practice body parts on test cylinders, learn easy techniques that give maximum expression, and perhaps make a bat to learn wings. Then we’ll make some heads—a long-nosed Chinese Snakey Dragon with murrini eyes, and my Morphing Goof Dragon with inset eyes. We have two body options to pick from, sideways flying for necklace, or a squatty body great for pendants. We’ll make one in class, and the other will be homework. Yes. Homework. We’ll cover inspiration sources, designing from toys (look for dragon figurines!), and how to find your personal voice. And we’ll stay a bit late to end the day with a Bead Toss, way too much fun!
